New season begins

We tilled Five Loaves Farm last week.

The tractor mounted tiller made quick work of last year's cover crop. Last winter was especially cold in town so the 4 species soil builder cover crop that we sowed turned out to be a one species rye. That is OK, though, as it still did its job. It tilled in nicely. Prior to tilling, we spread an inch or so of Van Boven mushroom compost over the garden - this is some rich stuff.

The ground is now ready for the May 16 planting event.
